Coromandel Beaches Tour
Our 8 day Coromandel Beaches tour takes you from City of Sails Auckland to the geothermal spa town of Rotorua. The Coromandel Peninsula is a cycling gem lying east of Auckland, in one of New Zealand’s most diverse and breathtaking locations. It is renowned for magnificent natural beauty and being an outdoor haven where rugged terrain is contrasted by an idyllic coastline. See a giant kauri tree and ride a bush railway at the quaint town of Coromandel. Bike by superb beaches and stop for a dip at lunch time. The laid back culture, locally known as ‘Coromandel time’, encourages a relaxed atmosphere. A farm stay will give you the opportunity to meet some real “Kiwis” before finishing in Rotorua with the opportunity to experience local Maori culture.
As always, you will have excellent local guides who know the country best. You will also have a support vehicle which means you can cycle as little or as much as you wish.
“Extremely well organised, guides were great, scenery beautiful, great cycling roads.” Ken, USA

Craft Beer NZ
The story of New Zealand craft beer is a quintessentially Kiwi story – a tale of determination and resolve, commitment and pride. As you cycle the country you will discover the vast array of craft beers; regional products produced with passion. Tastes that reflect the local spirit.
The history of beer in New Zealand is an interesting one, with humble beginnings as a cure for scurvy. The first batch of beer was produced by Captain James Cook in 1773. A mix of wort with molasses, manuka twigs and rimu tree branches and bark. New Zealand’s first commercial brewery opened its doors in 1835. It was located in what is now Russell (join our Coast to Coast tour and stay overnight there). As the years went by, beer fast became the most popular beverage among the locals.
The number of craft beer breweries has exploded in New Zealand in the last few years. With around 150 breweries, microbreweries and brewpubs, you will be spoilt for choice. For a very special craft experience try a beer brewed in Nelson using Nelson Sauvin hops. The name is taken from the Sauvignon Blanc grape as the hop has a similar flavour and aroma. If you’d like to ride through the hop fields of Nelson please join us on our 7-day Nelson Lakes tour or our 16-day Grand Tour.
