Nelson – Great Taste Trail

Your South Island Cycle Adventure takes you into food and wine country on the south island starting at the seaside town of Nelson, a picturesque town at the northern tip of the South Island. The small city is known for local Arts & Crafts stores and has a number of Art Galleries. The surrounding region is dotted with vineyards and is the gateway to the very popular Abel Tasman National Park. This tour will delight you with an array of wonderful local produce, including some incredible wines!

The tour completes the full cycling loop of the trail, a total of about 200kms over 5 nights and 6 days. You will visit local cellar doors to taste some gorgeous wines. Guided, supported and heaps of fun, this stress-free escape will have you feeling refreshed, revived and alive!

We also take advantage of the pristine environment that surrounds us, with a full day hiking the absolutely stunning Abel Tasman National Park. Your South Island Cycle Adventure will not disappoint with its stunning scenery, amazing cycling and fantastic food and wine.

There are excellent, well-maintained hybrid bikes and e-bikes with panniers, helmet and SPD or flat pedals.

We both just want to say what a fantastic time we had whilst away with Haoung and Mr T. They were both superb and they could not have been more helpful and caring. The accommodation was great and as for the wonderful food well where do we start. The lunches were a bit too much at 5 or so courses and then having to do it all again in the evening we were so full. The stops along the way were interesting and were well looked forward to. We did just the right amount of biking each day and enjoyed the hotel pool in the late afternoons.

The itinerary was outstanding, the people divine, and the views: ORGASMIC! My favourite days were the first two to Munna and then to Kumily because of the climbs. I loved the boat cruise, and the last days of flat rides and a stop for a swim in the Arabian Sea! What an experience. The guides were outstanding ... they marked the routes well, guided us with the flag, had a smile at every turn, and provided us with nourishment on the way. On the houseboat we were treated to traditional songs by Siddhu as well as dancing for all. India is a magical place and I loved every minute of it.
