Cycle Touring in New Zealand

Guided Bike Tour of Beaches and Volcanoes

The Beaches and Volcanoes Guided Bike Tour is a combination of our Coromandel Beaches and Volcanoes tours.
The Coromandel Peninsula is a cycling gem lying east of Auckland, in one of New Zealand’s most diverse and breathtaking locations.
Luxuriant forest and mountain backdrops set the scene. See a giant kauri tree and ride a bush railway at the quaint town of Coromandel . Bike by superb beaches and stop for a dip at lunch time. A farm stay will give you the opportunity to meet some real “Kiwis”. At the geothermal spa town of Rotorua with the opportunity to experience the local Maori culture.

We now head for Lake Taupo of trout fishing fame, with a visit to the dramatic Huka Falls a must.

The three volcanoes, Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu are the dramatic features of Tongariro National Park. Here we relax in style and comfort at the Grand Chateau. Make the most of the free day to hike the Tongariro Alpine Crossing (optional).

We wind our way down to King Country, known for sheep farms and limestone formations, for a second farm stay.

Our hosts will show us a little of their lifestyle and then it is a short, easy ride to the old world charm of Waitomo Caves.

A visit to the world-famous  Waitomo caves is a must, with the option of blackwater rafting for the more daring. We then take delightful quiet country roads to Pirongia to drive to Auckland.

Your Guided Bike Tour finishes in Auckland and wishes you a safe and pleasant journey home.

Good balance between riding and scenery and ancillary activities. (black water rafting). Good 2 weeks to get away from work, get some exercise, good companionship, and see the sights.
