From these bases, you’ll enjoy scenic rides on the quiet country roads taking on true pristine natural beauty. The starting point is the Postojna, the jewel in the Karst Region and finishing in Divača the biggest settlement and seat of the municipality.
Day 1 – Postojna
A modern town in southwestern Slovenia (population 9200). People visit it mainly for its caves and the magnificent Predjama Castle.
Day 2 – Postojna Cave (30km, 19mi, 1310ft)
Today you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Postojna Cave, one of the most visited places in Slovenia. The world famous Queen of the Caves is simply awe-inspiring.
Day 3 – Postojna (46km, 29mi, 2230ft)
A breath-taking cycle day where you will visit the picturesque karst valley Rakov Škocjan. Century-old oak trees, the splendid Big Natural Bridge (Veliki naravni most) and Little Natural Bridge (Mali naravni most), are just some of the great features of this beautiful karst valley. From here you continue cycling to Lake Cerknica and the charming Planinsko Polje – a classic example of a karst polje (plain)
Day 4 – Postojna to Divača (42km, 19mi, 1310ft)
Today you’ll visit Postojna Castle, one of the most picturesque castles in Slovenia. The cycling tour continues on winding and fascinating landscape with karst limestone plateau and charming villages.
Day 5 – Divača (30km, 19mi, 1380ft)
Today you’ll cycle to the beautiful Škocjan Caves, which have been included in the World Heritage List (UNESCO). You’ll continue riding around a beautiful landscape, full of historical sights and specialties. Do stop for lunch in one of the authentic local inns, where the food is prepared on the basis of centuries-old recipes and a rich restaurant tradition.
Day 6 – Divača (55km, 34mi, 1870ft)
A true scenic cycle day. First heading towards Štanjel, one of the oldest settlements in the Karst Region and known for its beautiful village centre. On your way back you’ll pass the famous Lipica Stud Farm, the oldest European stud farm for breeding the Lipizzaner horses. Pedalling through avenues of trees and parks, and being surrounded with noble white Lipizzaner horses on their green pastures.
Day 7 – Divača (44km, 27mi, 2160ft)
Vremska Valley is the land between the Vremščica (beautiful 1.027 m high mountain) and Brkini region where the river Reka floods fertile soil before it sinks into the underground world of the Škocjan Caves. Today it is all about enjoying on your bike, exploring and discovering typical small villages, sleepy countryside and scenic valley.
Day 8 – Departure after breakfast
