The tour starts in Kranjska Gora and finishes in Strunjan. A fantastic 10 days cycling holiday, where you will cycle among the most important and beautiful places Slovenia has to offer. From the beautiful capital city of Ljubljana, the gorgeous Julian Alps with one of the world’s most beautiful lakes (Lake Bled) nominated as one of the seven new wonders of the world, the caves of Postojna and Škocjan, and the Slovenian Adriatic coast.
Day 1 – Kranjska Gora
The tour starts in Kranjska Gora with time to discover the city on your own. Nestled in the Julian Alps at the triple border point of Slovenia, Italy and Austria, Kranjska Gora is an attractive and popular tourist resort throughout the year
Day 2 – Kranjska Gora to Bled (40km, 25mi, 1280ft)
Time for bike rental fitting or unpacking your bike (rental start on day two 8.30 am, finished on day nine 6 pm).
Today takes you from one Alpine beauty to the next one. Lake Bled, with its island in the middle of the lake, is considered to be one of the most beautiful alpine resorts.
Day 3 – Bled to Kanji (47km, 29mi, 1750ft).
Today’s winding cycling route passes typical Slovenian rural villages before you arrive in Kranj, the capital of the Slovenian Alps.
Day 4 – Kranji Ljubljana (36km, 22mi, 1100ft)
Today you’ll cycle from charming Kranj towards Slovenia´s capital and largest city. One of Europe’s greenest cities. You will enjoy strolling through its irresistibly attractive centre with numerous cafes along the emerald-greenLjubljanicariver.
Day 5 – Ljubljana to Bistra (45km, 28mi, 1280ft)
Leaving the capital, you will ride through idyllic and quaint villages, cycle on quiet roads, surrounded by green fields, hills and farms.
Day 6 – Bistra to Postojna (40km, 25mi, 2450ft)
Another meandering cycling day will lead you to Postojna, a place with two world-class attractions; Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle. The world famous Queen of the Caves is awe-inspiring and become one of the most visited places in Slovenia.
Day 7 – Postojna to Divača (40km, 25mi, 1840ft)
Today you will see the Predjama castle, one of the most picturesque castles in Slovenia. Built into an overhanging rock in a karst cave. The cycling winding route continues through fascinating Karst landscape, mingled with settlements and vineyards.
Day 8 – Divača to Muggia (Italy) (39km, 25mi, 1150ft)
Today you’ll cycle to the beautiful Škocjan Caves, which have been included in the World Heritage List (UNESCO) since 1986. After visiting the caves, you’ll be crossing the Slovenian-Italian border to arrive at the Bay of Muggia.
Day 9 – Muggia to Strunjan (42km, 26mi, 1640ft).
Scenic and glorious cycling from the Italian to Slovenian. A perfect finish to the magnificent Grand Slovenia tour.
